reviewsWhat Paddlers Say

Padded the mouth of the Wind River with my paddle board. It was a windy day on the Columbia so I stayed on the river where it was more sheltered from the wind. The clear waters at the river's mouth are sweet for paddleboarding and paddling upstream against the mild current is a nice way to work out. Parking requires a Skamania County Boat Launch permit, which you can get at the local markets like the Wind River Market in Carson. You could probably park and launch for free on the other side of the river.

Day passes take 3 business days to be issued. You can't park here without planning your trip a week in advance. There is no way to pay on site and no signage indicating payment is required to park, but the sheriff will still issue $100 parking tickets if you don't have the pass. We left before getting a ticket but over a dozen cars were so lucky.

Not a good ramp for boats that do not have shallow drafts. They don't dredge the channel out , so it gets pretty skinny. Also. The parking lot leaves much to be desired as there are very few parking spaces that are usable with a trailer.
