Washington State is filled with diverse kayaking opportunities, with numerous rivers, lakes, and coastal regions offering environments for paddlers of all skill levels. The Pacific Northwest is particularly well-suited for outdoor enthusiasts, thanks to its temperate climate and stunning natural landscapes. Kayaking in this region can range from the gentle lakes found in the western part of the state to the more challenging rapids of the numerous rivers that twist through Olympic National Park. Lakes like Aberdeen, characterized as reservoirs, serve as more accessible options for less experienced paddlers while still offering unique experiences.

Reservoirs, such as Lake Aberdeen, are artificial lakes created by damming rivers, typically designed to hold water for purposes like irrigation, drinking, or recreation. These water bodies are characterized by their relatively stable water levels compared to rivers and can provide a blend of calming flat stretches as well as areas of more dynamic current, depending on their flow management. The flat waters of reservoirs make them appealing venues for beginner paddlers, allowing novices to practice essential techniques without the intimidating conditions often found in nature’s untamed rivers.

reviewsWhat Paddlers Say

This is my favorite lake in Aberdeen, Washington. Every time I head from Seattle to Ocean Shores, I always stop by to use the restroom there and also to get my stretch. I like to do some fishing here as well. You can catch some big trout. The only thing is that when there is a training when officers do their shooting at the range nearby by it tends to scare the fish and they don't bite. All in all, I love this lake and recommend it to anyone.

Love this lake!! The area for kids is awesome. It's shallow and surrounded by a dock so they are safer. And the other side adults can swim. It's also great for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing. The area to sit is too small. But it works. We will be spending our summers year every year!

Fairly nice park. It was a nice warm day so a lot of people were enjoying the park. So many people that inconsiderate people were parking in places that was inhibiting the driveway in or out. No park officials to police the parking violations.
