While the Pacific Northwest is known for its larger waterways such as the Columbia River and Puget Sound, Munn Lake highlights the charm and beauty of smaller, less trafficked bodies of water that provide unique opportunities for wildlife observation and tranquility.

Munn Lake is sheltered and characterized by its typically calm water conditions, making it suitable for various paddlers. As a recreational lake, it features a flat water classification, which is particularly inviting for novice kayakers. The landscape surrounding the lake supports a stable shoreline laden with lush greenery, providing beautiful scenery and a backdrop for enjoyable paddling excursions. The waters are generally shallow, enhancing visibility and clarity, which is appealing for both paddlers and swimmers alike. The lake's depths do not usually exhibit a significant thermocline or drastic temperature stratification. Therefore, those floating on its surface can enjoy swimming during warmer months without concerns about cold-water zones.

reviewsWhat Paddlers Say

Why us locals of Thurston no longer fish there. Catch and release with special rules. It has lost it's appeal and I think that was the point of all the rules besides the weed killer used in Susan that ran into Munn and killed most of the fish during that time. It used to be an okay lake. Shore fishing is awful there due to the incline and eroding beach, so that really put the nail in the coffin for me and my family.

Have not been here in a few years. Lake has not changed much. Viewed shoreline from launch with binoculars. Had large outboard motor on back did not launch. This is a catch and release - no attached outboard- single barbless hook- knot less nets only- artificial lures only.

Small lake very quiet. I dont think a lot of people go here. I had the hole lake to myself for a short paddle board trip
